Harry H. Staples went to be with his Lord on October 8, 2010. He had been a resident of Rossville Health and Rehabilitation Center for several years.
Harry was born March 5, 1916, in Colorado. He was adopted at age three, and grew up in Dodge City, KS. Harry married Mildred Staples on June 16, 1941.
He served in the Army during WWII, and received the Purple Heart with Oak Leaf cluster, the Bronze Star, and several other medals. Harry had a Grade A Dairy farm north of Silver Lake for 40 years. For many of those years, he drove a bus for the Silver Lake School District, until he retired.
Harry was preceded in death by his adoptive parents, Charles and Kathryn Staples, his wife, Mildred, and two brothers, Ralph Staples and Robert Wheeler.
He is survived by his daughter, Marcia B. Staples, Silver Lake; nieces, Charla Blankenship, Bethanne Scholl, Sharon Sundwall; and nephews, Mike Staples and Dan Staples.
Cremation is planned. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, October 16, 2010, at Silver Lake United Methodist Church. Inurnment will be at a later date at Mount Hope Cemetery. Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel is assisting with arrangements.
