Harry J. Cox, 80, Topeka, passed away at a Topeka hospital on Friday, February 18, 2005.
Mr. Cox was born July 31, 1924 in Topeka, the son of Harry J. and Irene Graft Warren.
He attended Topeka elementary schools and graduated from Lawrence High School in 1942. Upon graduation, he enlisted in the Navy and served for 2 years. Mr. Cox worked for Morrell Packing company and then joined the Topeka Police Department in 1951. He retired in 1978 as a Lieutenant in the Patrol Division. He then worked as a security officer for Capital Federal Savings for the next 15 years.
Mr. Cox married Irene L. Hopkins on September 3, 1947 at the First Christian Chruch in Topeka. She survives. Other survivors include a son: Randy Cox and his wife Sarah Topeka, two grandchildren: Lindsey and Danny Cox and two step-grandchildren: Zachary and Nicholas Bernal all of Topeka. One brother: Beverly Cox, White City, Oregon also survives.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, February 22, 2005 at First Christian Chruch at 11:00 A.M. Mr. Cox will lie in state after 2:00 P.M on Monday at Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel and visitation will from 7:00 to 8:30 P.M.
