Harry E. Thompson, 82, of Topeka, passed away on Thursday, January 30, 2013 at the KU Medical Center in Kansas City.
He is survived by his wife, Ethel Thompson of Topeka; three sisters, Margaret Armfield of Topeka, Carol (Frank) Fox of Seattle, WA, and Lorraine (Gene) Kramer of Osawatomie, KS as well as several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Harry was born October 14, 1930 in Melvern, KS to Harry and Mabel Thompson. He graduated from Melvern High School and later served in the US Air Force. He was a member of the American Legion Post #400 and also the Moose Lodge.
He married Ethel Seckinger on March 14, 1951 in Topeka, KS. He worked as a mail carrier for the United States Postal Service for over 30 years and for several years delivered the Topeka Capital Journal.
Funeral ceremonies will be 11 a.m., Monday, February 4, 2013 at the Mount Hope Mausoleum Chapel, 4700 SW 17th St., Topeka. Interment will follow in the Mount Hope Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, February 3, 2013 at the Penwell-Gabel Mid-Town Chapel, 10th and Lane, Topeka. Memorial contributions may be made to the St. Jude's Children's Research Center,501 St. Jude Plaza, Memphis, TN 38105.
