Harriet B. Miller, RN, 93, of Topeka, passed away September 3, 2011, at Aldersgate Village. She was born December 23, 1917, in Omaha, NE, the daughter of Benjamin and Bertha (Peterson) Harrison. Harriet attended Central High School and graduated in 1938 from Covenant Hospital of Nursing, Omaha, NE. She completed a post graduate program in Psychiatric Nursing at the Menninger Foundation in 1940. On August 31, 1940, Harriet married Thomas D. Miller. He preceded her in death. She was a member of First Baptist Church for many years. Harriet retired from the Menninger Foundation after many years of nursing.
She is survived by two daughters, Patty (Larry) Pressman, Joyce Stranberg and son-in-law Dave Anderson; five grandchildren, Erica (Todd) Maguire of Boise, ID, Karen (Keith) Lyles of Gadsden, AL, John (Jeannette) Anderson of Boise, ID, Rene (Patrick) Titsworth, and Leigh (Jay) Brewer; and ten great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Tom; daughter, Linda L. Anderson; brother, Benjamin Harrison; and sister, Suzanne Greene.
Mrs. Miller was cremated. Private family inurnment will take place in Mt. Hope Cemetery. Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel is assisting the family with arrangements.
