Harold L. Williams, 87, of Topeka, passed away, Friday, April 14, 2006 at Brewster Place Retirement Community. He was a loving husband, father and friend who will be dearly missed.
Harold was born June 4, 1918 on a farm eleven miles NE of Council Grove, the son of Martin L. and Ruby (Slack) Williams. He has resided in Topeka since 1948.
He was a graduate of Council Grove High School and attended Kansas State University where he played football for two years. He received a diploma in aviation mechanics from the Missouri Aviation Institute.
Harold was a veteran serving as a Corporal in the U.S. Army during World War II.
He was employed at Boeing from 1940-1944. He worked as a flooring preparer in various locations from 1946-1953. In 1954 he began Signal Radio Supply and operated it until his retirement in 1981.
He was a member of Faith Lutheran Church, the American Legion Post 400, and the Loyal Order of the Moose. Harold and his wife were members of the Shooting Stars Square Dancers in the 1980's.
Harold married Leota G. Kietzman on November 15, 1942 in Alta Vista. She survives. Other survivors include: two sons, Ronald Williams, Portland, ME; Randall Williams, Topeka; two daughters, Kaylene Williams, Turlock, CA; Carol Williams and her partner, Nancie Palmer, Topeka; five grandchildren and one great grandson. Harold was preceded in death by a son, David A. Williams.
Cremation is planned. Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m., on Wednesday, April 19, 2006 at Faith Lutheran Church. Inurnment will be in Templin Cemetery, Alta Vista, Kansas. Family will receive friends at Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
