Harold Spurgeon

Harold Spurgeon, 84, Topeka, passed away Monday, August 18, 2008. He was born January 1, 1924 in Soldier, KS the son of Orion and Iva Robertson Spurgeon.

Harold attended Syracuse University in New York for pilot training and served in WWII for the United States Army Air Force. After his service, he enjoyed the automotive business. He sold Buicks for 15 years and moved on to automotive repair.

He married Beverly Schulz on November 4, 1970.

He is preceded in death by his mother, father, brother, O. R. "Ralph" and step-father, Ernest Burton.

His wife survives. Other survivors include his two sons Gary (Linda) of Topeka, Gerald of Louisiana, Step-children, Greg (Sally) Schoenhals of Topeka, Cindy (Terry) Craft of Papillion, NE, Monique (Duayne) Meinert of Sparks, NV, Daughter, Janet (Keith) Johnson of Overbook, 11 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, August 22, 2008 at Our Savior's Lutheran Church. Family will greet friends from 6-7 p.m. at Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel Thursday evening. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Let's Help, 302 SW Van Buren St. Topeka, KS 66603.
