Harold E. Laughlin, 96, Topeka, died May 19, 2011 at Clare Bridge of Topeka.
Harold was born December 25, 1914 in Concordia, the son of Ralph and Estella Laughlin. The family later moved to Abilene, where Harold met his wife of 59 years, Faye Amelia Mulanax, who preceded him in death in 1995. They were married June 21, 1936 in Enterprise.
He leaves to cherish his memory, one son, Gary Laughlin (Cammie) of Topeka, and one daughter, Mary Jane Laughlin of Abilene, TX; two grandchildren, two great-grandchildren; and one sister, Norma Ratts (Robert) of Bedford, TX. He was also preceded in death by one sister, Maxine Ralston and her husband, Glenn of Augusta.
Mr. Laughlin worked all of his adult life in the vegetable brokerage business, first at Gamble-Robinson in Topeka and later owned and operated Laughlin's Midwest Sales Company with his wife in Chicago, IL. Mr. and Mrs. Laughlin returned to Topeka and retired in 1982.
He was an active member of the First Presbyterian Church of Topeka and VFW Post 1650 in Topeka, having served in the United States Army, 1688th Engineer Combat Battalion during World War II.
Private family services will be held at Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel. Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery.
