Harold Milton Gentry, 89, of Topeka, passed away Wednesday, August 17, 2022 at Lexington Park.
He was born September 22, 1932, in Melvern, Kansas, the son of Milt and Lucile (Norton) Gentry. He graduated from Williamsburg High school in 1950. After graduating from high school, Harold joined the United States Navy.
Harold attended the Clarks School for Business. He went to work for IBM as an Administrative Analyst. He retired after 25 years in 1987. He enjoyed working with numbers and was very dedicated to his job. After he retired from IBM, he went to work for Roach Hardware for about 20 years.
He and his wife, Jean, were members of Quiveria Heights Church of Christ for about 20 years. Harold served as a Deacon, Treasurer and helped with the youth Bible study groups. They later joined the Central Church of Christ and have been long time members.
Harold enjoyed wood carving and was a member of the Kaw Valley Woodcarvers Club for 25 years. He loved hearing about his great grandchildren and was a very loyal family man. He and Jean had a 40 acre farm and he would often work on the land. They raised sheep and had a horse that he enjoyed. Harold was a jokester and had a dry sense of humor.
Harold married Anna "Jean" Imogene Robbins on September 6, 1953 in Agricola, Kansas. He is survived by his wife, Jean; son, Richard (Janet) Gentry; granddaughter, Amy (David) McCune; great grandchildren, Noah, Abram, Sophia and Maria McCune; brother, Lawrence (Sarah) Gentry and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded by his parents and brother, Ernie Gentry.
A graveside service will be at 1:00 pm on Saturday, August 27, 2022 at the Agricola Cemetery in Agricola, Kansas.
