Harold Lee Bearce

Harold Lee Bearce, 78, of Topeka, passed away on February 6, 2017.

He was born on September 8, 1938, in Kansas City, MO, the son of Harold Dugan Bearce and Ida May Bearce. Harold was raised by his loving grandmother, Christina (Dugan) Bearce.

He graduated from Center High School in 1956. Following his graduation he enlisted in the United States Army and trained at Fort Knox Kentucky. He served six months active duty and six and a half years as a US Reservist.

He married Jacquelyn Bearce on November 9, 1957. They later divorced.
Harold married Rosalie Ann (Cazier) Bearce on June 20, 1981 in Topeka, Kansas. She preceded him in death on May 7, 2015.

He is survived by a daughter, Karen Renee Gamboa, of Topeka; a step-son, Ron Patterson, of Topeka; grandchildren, Tamara Talamantes, Adam Morphis, Amy Bearce, Tava Miller, Dayne Miller, Dylan Talamantes, Mikaela "Mikki" Talamantes, all of Topeka; nine great-grandchildren; and cousins, Donald, Christina, and Joyce.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Rosalie; ex-wife, Jacquelyn Bearce; a son, James Bearce; a daughter, Laurie Ann Bearce; and a step-son, Mike Patterson.

Harold was an avid book-reader, a master chess player, a computer guru, and a man who loved spending time with his family. He looked forward to his weekly dinner outings with his daughter, Karen. Harold was proud to organize and celebrate his 60th High School Reunion in 2016.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 18, 2017 at the Mount Hope Cemetery & Funeral Chapel, 4700 SW 17th, Topeka, KS. The family will greet friends one hour prior to the service.

Memorial contributions in Harold's honor may be made to American Heart Association, 3816 Paysphere Circle, Chicago, IL 60674.
