Harlan Lundry

Harlan E. Lundry, 79, Topeka, died Friday, July 23, 2004 at Stormont-Vail Regional Health Center.

He was born Nov. 16, 1924 in Clay Center, the son of Clarence and Pearl McIntire Lundry. He was raised in Quenemo, graduating from high school there. Following graduation, he was drafted into the US Army and served in the 288th Field Artillery Unit from 1943-1946. He came to Topeka following his discharge from the service.

Mr. Lundry retired from Tri-State Equipment as apetroleum equipment salesman in 1989.

He was an active member of First Christian Church for 56 years, a member of the Kansas Oil Marketing Association over 40 years, Philip Billard Post #1650 VFW, and DAV Chapter #3. He was active for many years in Boy Scouting with Troop 7, and received the Silver Beaver award. He currently was the VA volunteer representative for the DAV at Colmery-O'Neil VA Medical Center, and in 2003, received an award for 17 years and 4265 hours of volunteer service.

He married Patricia Ann Waterman on June 27, 1948 in Washington, Kansas. She survives.

Other survivors include his children, Debbie Collins of Meriden and David Lundry and Connie Brown, both of Topeka, 6 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.

Services will be 10:00 am Tuesday at First Christian Church with interment in Penwell-Gabel Memorial Park Cemetery. Military honors will be provided by Philip Billard Post #1650 VFW. He will lie in state from noon Sunday to 9 pm Monday at Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel, where the family will receive friends from 7-8 pm Monday.
