Harlan F. "Bud" Lucas, Jr. 83, of Carbondale, KS, passed away Sunday, May 19, 2013 at his home.
He was born February 21, 1930 in St. Joseph, MO, the son of Harlan F. and Helen (Shaline) Lucas, Sr. He served in the U.S. Navy during WW II.
He was employed by Crouch Brothers Trucking, Hillyard Chemical, Renzenberger Transportation Service and was also was owner/operator of L & L Guttering.
He was a member of King Hill Masonic Lodge, St. Joseph, MO and later for Carbondale Masonic Lodge No. 70 and former member of the Arab Shrine. He was a Life-time member of the Carbondale VFW Post No. 11255.
Bud married Charlotte L. Gregory on August 5, 1948 in St. Joseph, MO. She survives of the home. Other survivors include six children, David Lucas of Sand Point, ID, Sharon Landess, Winfield, KS, Bonnie (Marlon) Jackson of Burlingame, KS, Roger Lucas of Carbondale, Mitzi (Ben) Kohlleppel of Burlingame and Michael (Paula) Lucas of Carbondale; 17 grandchildren, Christy Taylor, Jason David and Zack Lucas, Trevor and Chasity Landess, Tony Murphy, Shannon Williams, Carrie Swain, Nicole Kundert, Jason Wayne Lucas, Melanie Lucas, Christopher, Shawn and Patrick Boner, Matthew Anstaett, James and Mark Lucas; numerous great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren, two brothers, Donald (Vera) Lucas, St. Joseph, MO and Danny Lucas, Colorado Springs, CO and a sister Beverly Gambill, Memphis, TN.
He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, Jack, Chet and Jerry Lucas, and a sister, Betty Gresham.
Mr. Lucas was cremated. A celebration of life ceremony will be at a later date. Penwell-Gabel Mid-Town Chapel, is assisting the family. A celebration of life reception will be from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., Saturday, July 13, 2013 at the Carbondale City Hall, Carbondale, Kansas.
