Guadalupe "Lupe" Zuniga

Guadalupe (Lupe) Serna Zuniga, 87, passed away peacefully July 11, 2010 at St. Francis Health Center. She was born on December 30, 1922 to Simon and Josefa Serna.

Lupe married Louis G. Zuniga on August 13, 1940. He preceded her in death on March 16, 1999. She worked at Falley's Bakery over 30 years and retired in 1981.

Lupe is survived by her children, Arlene (Sylvia) Frank Aguilar, Josephine (Josie) Munoz, Angelo Zuniga, Unselmo (Rick) Becky Zuniga and Lisa (Ken) Mendoza; daughter-in-law, Julie Zuniga; 19 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren, three great-great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; and sister-in-law, Lucy Zuniga-Gomez.

She was preceded in death by her husband, daughter Nancy Zuniga, son Rudulph (Rudy) Zuniga and son-in-law Robert (BJ) Munoz. Lupe was the last of 13 siblings.

Lupe was an Altar Society Member, Lulac Council Member and the Secular Augustinian Recollects.

She was member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church and due to Fiesta Week, Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 a.m. Friday, July 16, 2010 at St. Matthew Catholic Church, 2700 SE Virginia, Topeka. Burial will follow at Mount Calvary Cemetery. She will lie in state after 2:00 p.m. Thursday, July 15, 2010 at Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel, 1321 SW 10th Ave., Topeka; where the family will receive friends until 9:00 p.m. A parish rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. Memorial contributions may be given to Lulac Senior Center and Midland Care Hospice Services.
