Grant A. Wedoff, 98, of Topeka, passed away on Sunday, November 16, 2008 at a Topeka hospital. He was born on October 16, 1910 in Topeka the son of Alfred and Augusta Wedoff. Grant graduated from Topeka High School. He worked as an accountant for the Santa Fe Railroad prior to serving in the Navy as a Chief Petty Officer from 1942 - 1948. He was then employed by Fred Harvey in Chicago as a controller. Grant later transferred to the Grand Canyon as the controller for the Fred Harvey operations there. Several years later, he moved to Phoenix, AZ and worked as controller and then hospital administrator for Doctors Hospital. Grant married Josephine Zybach on October 20, 1934 in Topeka. Grant and Josephine retired in 1973 to Leisure World in Seal Beach, CA. Grant was active in their church, St. Theodore's Episcopal Church, serving several positions on the church board. Grant was a long time member of the Williams, AZ Masonic Lodge. In 2007, they moved to Summerville in Garden Grove, CA. In December of 2007, Grant moved back to Topeka. Grant was preceded in death by his wife, Josephine on November 25, 2007. He was also preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, Harold, Wesley, Linnie and three sisters, Ellen Johnson, Mrytle Wedoff and Louise Wedoff. Survivors include two nieces, Linda (Steve) Ossiander, Carol Shultz, both of Topeka and several grand-nephews and grand-nieces. Graveside services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Friday at Mount Hope Cemetery. Grant will lie in state after 2:00 p.m. Thursday at Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel.
