Grace Margaret Witherell Polter, 90, of Topeka, passed away, Saturday, March 25, 2006 at the Topeka Presbyterian Manor.
She was born February 28, 1916 in Toledo, Ohio the daughter of Arthur Irving and Jennie May (Nicodemus) Witherell. Grace was a graduate of Waite High School in Toledo.
She married Harold V. Polter in 1935. He preceded her in death in 1989. Survivors include her children, Harold Rex and his wife Dottie Polter, Topeka; Lawrence Robert and his wife Kathie Polter, Topeka; Karen Burns and her husband Sam Burns, Farmers Branch, TX; Paul Kent and his wife Deneen Polter, Topeka; 10 grandchildren, 2 step grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren and 4 step great grandchildren.
She has resided in Topeka since 1945. Grace worked with her husband at the Park Grill and Polter's Colonial Inn Restaurants in Topeka.
She was a member of War Dads and volunteered at the V.A. Hospital. She was also a member of the Topeka Restaurant Association, the Kansas Association of Family and Community Education and a founding member of the W.H.A.T. Club.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, March 29, 2006 at the Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel. Burial will follow at the Prairie Home Cemetery. Mrs. Polter will lie in state after 12:00 noon Tuesday at the funeral home.
