Grace G. Fritz, 95, of Rossville, passed away Saturday, June 4 at a hospital in Olathe.
She was born January 23, 1910 in Carnegie, OK, the daughter of Homer J. and Ida V. Davis Lampton.
She graduated from Silver Lake High School in 1930. She then attended Washburn University and Baker University. She taught in a one room school in rural Shawnee County for several years. She was a commiteewoman for the Dover Township. She was instrumental in the development of the Rossville Senior Center. She was a life member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Silver Lake Chapter # 176. She was also a member of the Mission Hills H.D.U. She was an avid gardener and was very proud of her flower garden. She was a member of the Dover Federated Church for many years before moving to Rossville, where she joined the Rossville United Methodist Church.
She married Walter A. Fritz on August 3, 1931 in Topeka. He preceded her in death on July 1, 1966. She was also preceded in death by a son, Neil Fritz , an infant daughter, Nancy Kaye Fritz, three sisters and four brothers.
Survivors include one son, Allen Dale Fritz and his wife Carol of Mound City, KS; two grandsons; Howard and Russell Fritz, two grandaughters; Laura Oglesby and Mary Mehrtens, and five great grandchildren.
Mrs. Fritz will lie in state after 2:00 pm, Wednesday, June 8 at Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel wherre the family will greet friends from 7:00 to 8:00 pm that evening. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 am, Thursday, June 9 at the funeral home with burial to follow in Penwell-Gabel's Memorial Park Cemetery.
