Gordon William Heald

Gordon William Heald, 89, of Topeka, passed away on Thursday, January 21, 2010 at his home. He was born on July 25, 1920 in Atchison, KS, the son of Gordon E. and Etta Becker Heald. He graduated from Hoyt High School. He was an Army Air Corps veteran of WWII. In 1959, Gordon began his own small business known as Gordon Heald Heating & Air Conditioning. He was a member of First United Methodist Church where he was active in the Horizon Sunday School Class. Gordon married Peggy Mosso on October 7, 1956 in Topeka. She survives. Other survivors include two daughters, Karen (Bill) Newkirk of Independence, KS, Marianne (Dan) Byl of Topeka, two grandchildren, Philip and Sarah Newkirk and his brother, Mark Heald of Topeka. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Edmund Heald and Paul Heald. Cremation has taken place. Memorial services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday in the Klasse Chapel at First United Methodist Church. Private inurnment will take place in Penwell-Gabel Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 3:30 - 5:00 p.m. Sunday in the Celebration Room at First United Methodist Church. Memorial contributions may be given to First United Methodist Church, 600 SW Topeka Blvd., Topeka, KS 66603 or to Heart Of America Hospice, 3715 SW 29th St., Topeka, KS 66614. Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
