Gordon A. "Gerky" Brunott, 89, of Topeka, went home into the loving arms of Jesus, Thursday, March 10, 2011.
Gordon Andrew Brunott was born February 2, 1922, in Elbow, Saskatchewan, son of Albert and Lillian (Torvestad) Brunott. He grew up in Minneapolis, MN, where he met Eleanor Colton. They were married on May 1, 1948, in Minneapolis, MN. Gordon served in the US Army in WWII, Field Artillery in the North African campaign. He owned and operated Western Auto & Mobil Gas, Topeka. Gordon later worked at Marling's Home Furnishings and Appliances and Toys R' Us, Topeka. He was an active member of Grace Bible Church. Gordon built a family cabin in northern Minnesota to leave as a legacy to his beloved family; they were the joy of his life.
Gordon is survived by his loving family, which includes wife, Eleanor, two pastor sons, Gordon "Chip" (Lanette) Brunott, Jr., Plano, TX, and Mark (Cindy) Brunott, Lincoln, NE, six grandchildren, Chad (Angela) Brunott, Charla (Aaron) Fields, Brad (Melanie) Brunott, Jamia (Drew) Hoffman, Jason (Sally) Brunott, and Jonathan (Amanda) Brunott, five great-grandchildren, Austin Mead, Cole Brunott, Alyssa Brunott, Connor Fields, and Brooklynn Brunott, and several nieces and nephews.
Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 15, 2011, at Grace Bible Church, 4021 SE 37th Street, Topeka, KS 66605. Private family interment will be at Mount Hope Cemetery, Topeka. Gordon will lie in state from 6:00 p.m. -8:00 p.m. Monday, March 14, 2011, at Penwell-Gabel Mid-Town Chapel, Topeka. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Grace Bible Church, First Evangelical Church -Nicaragua Fund, 3280 S 84th Street, Lincoln, NE 68506, or Disabled American Veterans, P.O. Box 14301, Cincinnati, OH 45250-0301.
