Glennis Humpert Martin, 91, Topeka, passed away Saturday, May 15, 2021.
She was born February 7, 1930, in Solomon, Kansas, the daughter of C.E. and Pearl (Alexander) Kinion. After graduating from Bennington High School, she married Raymond C. Humpert on August 13, 1949 in Bennington, Kansas.
They lived in Bennington where they had their three sons and in 1959, the family moved to Topeka. Glennis began her career with Topeka Public Schools, where she retired as payroll clerk after 28 years.
She was a member of the Crestview United Methodist Church, where she also served with the UMW and Keenagers of Crestview. She was also a member of Croco Hall Swinging Squares, TARTA, and V.F.W. Women's Auxiliary. She enjoyed reading, volunteering, walking, and traveling.
On March 29, 1986, she married James J. Martin at Crestview United Methodist Church, he preceded in death in 2006. She was also preceded in death by parents, her husband Raymond in 1980, and grandson, Brian E. Humpert in 2019.
Survivors include three sons, Lyle (Peggy) Humpert, Tescott, KS; Lynn (Karen) Humpert, Topeka; and Lonnie (Linda) Humpert, Edgerton, KS; sister, Gloria Stevens, Long Beach, CA; six grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren.
Visitation will begin at 10:00 am, followed by services at 11:00 am on Friday, May 21, 2021 at Penwell-Gabel Funeral Home. Graveside Services will be at 3:30 pm, Friday at Bennington Cemetery, Bennington, Kansas.
