Glen Mark Rose, 85, Topeka, died July 24, 2007 at Midland Hospice Center.
He was born October 9, 1921 at Bala, the son of M.L. and Louise Ditman Rose. He graduated from High School at Morganville and went to trade school. He was a 50 year member of the Plumbers and Pipefitters Local 441.
He served in the Air Force during World War II, and flew 50 missions over enemy territory in a B-24 Bomber. He flew on the Kate Smith, a bomber Kate Smith bought with war bonds. Glen got yellow jaundice and was grounded, and his crew got shot down on a mission over Polestic Oil Fields in Romania. Glen earned many medals in service.
Glen loved fishing and hunting, and after his retirement, enjoyed going to Mission, Texas for the winters.
Glen belonged to the Arab Shrine for 50 years, the Blue lodge, and Scottish Rite. He was a life member of the V.F.W. He belonged to the American Legion Post #1, and the Moose Lodge for many years.
Glen was a Christian and belonged to the Presbyterian Church.
Glen was married to Mary Jo Bennington for 63 years. She survives. Other survivors include two sons; Mark A. Rose and Stevan M. Rose, both of Perry; 1 grandson; 1granddaughter and 2 great granddaughters. He is also survived by his sister, Vera Gibbon, Tulsa, Oklahoma; and sister-in-laws, Ruth Rose, California, and Mary E. Bennington, Manhattan, and many nieces and nephews.
Glen was cremated, with inurnment at Mount Hope Mausoleum. No services are planned.
