Gladys M. Davis, 80, of Topeka, passed away on November 30, 2005 from Alzheimer's complications at an Overbrook care facility.
She was born November 14, 1925 in rural Geary County, the daughter of William and Elizabeth Horne. She graduated from Alta Vista High School. Gladys retired from the Topeka Public Library in 1981 after 34 years of service in the Fine Arts Dept. and as secretary to the head librarian.
Gladys is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Carol and Ed Blake of Carbondale; her son and daughter-in-law, Ron Davis and Roxanne Emmert-Davis of Topeka; her granddaughter Anne Davis of Plano, Texas; her grandson and his wife, Clay and Katie Davis of Aspen, Colorado; her sister, Helen Lewis of Topeka; her sister and brother-in-law, Hazel and Arlie Smith of Overbrook; her sister Clara Pennington of Mesa, Arizona; seven nieces and nephews; and numerous cousins, aunts, uncles, and other family members. She was predeceased by her brother, Ernest, and sister, Alice.
A funeral service will be at 1:00 p.m., Sunday, December 4, 2005 at Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel. Gladys will lie in state after Noon on Saturday and the family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m..
