Gladys L. Goodman, 100, of Topeka, passed away on Saturday, September 17, 2005 at her home.
She was born September 9, 1905 in Norcatur, to Joseph W. and Ada L. Garrett Founds. Gladys graduated from Wheaton High School and lived in the Wheaton community before moving to Topeka in 1976. She was a homemaker. Gladys and her husband owned the Wheaton grocery store for several years. She was a member of the Wheaton Congregational Church.
Gladys married Raymond Goodman on June 16, 1926. He preceded her in death in 1999.
Survivors include sons: Kenneth Goodman and wife Marjorie, Overland Park, Philip Goodman and wife Dorothy, Noblesville, Indiana, Wendell Goodman and wife Marilyn, Topeka and a daughter; Sharon McLaughlin and husband Jerry, Kerrville, Texas; 16 grandchildren, 27 great grandchildren and 12 great great grandchildren. Gladys was preceded in death by a son, Bob Goodman and 1 grandson, 4 sisters and a brother.
A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Thursday, September 22, 2005 at Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel. Mrs. Goodman will lie in state after 2:00 P.M. on Wednesday and family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. Burial will be at 3:00 P.M. on Thursday in the Wheaton Congregational Cemetery, Wheaton.
In lieu of flowers, Memorial contributions may be made to the Wheaton Congregational Cemetery, c/o Joy Force, 205 Market Street, Wheaton, Kansas 66521, or the charity of the donor's choice.
