Gerdine LaVeda Seeley, 96, of Topeka, passed away, Sunday, May 1, 2005 at St. Francis Hospital, Topeka. She had been a resident at Brewster Place Retirement Community.
She was born February 22, 1909 at Oblong, Illinois, the daughter of Howard A. and Florence E. Reese Young.
Gerdine was a graduate of El Dorado High School. She had attended El Dorado Junior College and Stephens College, Columbia, MO.
She was a member of First Presbyterian Church, the Social Service Club and Chapter AJ of the PEO Sisterhood. Mrs. Seeley had served as a volunteer at Stormont-Vail Hospital over fifteen years.
Gerdine married Myron Springer Seeley, September 22, 1928, in El Dorado, Kansas. He preceded her in death March 12, 1982. Survivors include one son, Myron S. Seeley, Jr., and his wife Rachel, Topeka; four grandchildren: Gregory, Jonathan and his wife Kimberly and Karen Seeley, all of Topeka, and Brian and his wife Laura Seeley, Jonestown, TX; five great grandchildren and one great great granddaughter. She is also survived by her sister in law Faith Dumler, Russell, Kansas.
Cremation is planned. Private inurnment services will be at the Russell City Cemetery, Russell, Kansas. Memorial contributions may be made to the First Presbyterian Church, 817 SW Harrison, Topeka, 66612 or to the Williams Educational Fund, 1651 Naismith Dr., Lawrence, KS 66045. Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
