Geraldine W. Cothran, 96, passed away Friday, October 7, 2016, at McCrite Plaza Senior Living.
Geraldine was born October 27, 1919, in Fairport, MO, to Leo and Strassie (Hayter) Keener. She started nursing school at Barnes Hospital in St. Louis, MO where she met her husband, Dewey A. Cothran. They married on July 26, 1942, in St. Louis, MO. Geraldine graduated in the spring of 1945 from Barnes Hospital School of Nursing. After WWII, Geraldine and her husband, Dewey were stationed all over the United States until finally settling in Topeka, KS. She served many years as a registered nurse working for the VA Hospital in Topeka, KS during the 1970's.
She was survived by her three sons, Stephen A. Cothran, James M. Cothran, and Philip E. Cothran; five grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren.
Geraldine was preceded in death by her husband, Dewey A. Cothran, and twin brother, Gerald W. Keener.
A graveside service will be at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, October 13, 2016, at Fairport Cemetery, Fairport, MO.
