Geraldine F. Rutherford

Geraldine F. Rutherford, 80, passed away October 7, 2002 at a Topeka Hospital.
She was born October 20, 1921, in Chicago, Illinois, the daughter of Charles and Myrtle Julien Smitchger.

She was a graduate of Bloom Township High School in Steger, Illinois. After graduation, she was employed as a supervisor by Illinois Bell Telephone Company in Chicago. She was a Food Service Worker for the Shawnee Mission School District and Topeka Public Schools before retiring.

She Married Keith M. Rutherford on November 11, 1944 in Steger, IL. He passed away August 2, 1999.

She was a member of Trinity Presbyterian Church, National Audobon Society and the Natioanl Wildlife Association. She was also a member of the Topeka Civic Symphonyand theTopeka Civic Theater.

She is survived by:

One Daughter: Nancy Artzer Topeka, KS

Two Sons: Douglas K, Rutherford Quito, Ecuador
Dennis " Hap" Rutherford Topeka, KS

8 grandchildren 4 step grandchildren

Memorial services will be held at 11:00 AM Friday, October 11, 2002 at Trinity Presbyterian Church. Private family inurnment will follow. Mrs. Rutherford will lie in state from 1:00 PM to 9:00 PM Thursday, October 10, 2002 at Penwell Gabel Mid-Town Chapel. The family will receive friends and relatives from 5:30 PM to
7:00 PM that evening. Memorial contributions may be made to Multiple Sclerosis Society-Eastern Kansas Chapter, 5350 SW 17th, Topeka, KS, 66604 or Helping Hands Humane Society, 2625 NW Rochester Rd. Topeka, KS 66617
