Gerald Edmond "Jerry" Robinson, 94, of Topeka passed away on Saturday, January 9, 2021 at the University of Kansas – St. Francis Health Campus.
Gerald was born August 2, 1926, in Topeka, Kansas, to Lucille and Orville Robinson.
He graduated from Topeka High School and then joined the United States Navy and served in the Pacific in World War II. After the war, Gerald returned to Topeka and began a lifelong career as an electrician and was a member of the local IBEW for over 70 years. He served in various roles with the IBEW at the local, state and federal level. His passions included fishing, bird hunting, gardening and, in later years, golfing and spending the winters in Alamo, Texas.
Gerald was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Florence Waters and a brother, Jackie Robinson.
Gerald is survived by his wife of 72 years, Julia Robinson of Topeka; his daughter, Martha (Paul) Bergant of Rogers, Arkansas; three granddaughters, Trisha, Kuffa and Farris; five great grandchildren, Allie, Drew, Zach, Levon, Lola and one great-great grandchild, Hartley.
Gerald and his wife, Julia were member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church of Topeka.
Although quiet in nature, Gerald had a heart of gold. He was the first to help family, friends and neighbors with anything needed. His grandchildren were his greatest joys, and he spent as much time with them as possible making homemade ice cream, swimming and being a jokester. His family adored him. He and his infamous chuckle will be greatly missed.
