Gerald L. Holmes

Gerald L. Holmes, 75, of Topeka, died Thursday, July 8, 2004 at a Topeka hospital. He was born on August 9, 1928 in Overbrook, Ks., the son of Jack and Hazel Mowell Holmes. He was an Air Force veteran of the Korean War. He was a truck driver for the American Bakery. He was a member of Highland Heights Christian Church. He married Virginia L. Morris on December 31, 1954 in Topeka. She survives. Other survivors include one son, Ronald Holmes of Kaufman, TX, two daughters, Angie Barnes of Topeka and Sandy Colvin of Lake Weatherford, TX, two granddaughters, two grandsons, four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his brother, Douglas Holm. Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday at Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel. Burial will follow in West Lawn Memorial Gardens. Mr. Holmes will lie in state from 2:00 - 9:00 p.m. Sunday at Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel where the family will receive friends from 2:00 - 3:30 p.m. Sunday afternoon.
