Gerald "Skip" Kleier

Gerald Ray "Skip" Kleier, 76, Carbondale, passed away Thursday, May 6, 2021.

He was born August 2, 1944, in Wichita, Kansas, the son of Jason and Doris (Glimpse) Kleier. He was a graduate of Iola High School.

Skip owned and operated the Skip's Thriftway in Carbondale, Kansas, retiring on December 31, 2013.
He served on the KFDA board of directors.

Skip married Carolyn Matney on October 12, 1963 in Iola, Kansas. She survives of the home. Other survivors include two sons, Cameron (Ann) Kleier, Kansas City, MO and Jared Kleier, Carbondale; and three grandchildren, Kylee, Carter, and Graham.

He was preceded in death by his parents and three siblings.

Skip enjoyed playing golf and being with family and friends.

Memorial services will be held at 11:00am, Wednesday, May 12, 2021at Carbondale Church of Christian Fellowship, 430 Commercial St, Carbondale. Burial will follow at Carbondale Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association, PO Box 13067, Alexandria, VA 22312 or National Kidney Foundation of Kansas and Western Missouri, 6405 Metcalf Ave, Ste. 204, Overland Park, KS 66202.
