Gerald F. Meyer, 98, Topeka, passed away on Monday, February 16, 2009 at the V.A. Medical Center.
Gerald was born February 26, 1910 in Reliance, SD, the son of Enos J. and Mabel (Lloyd) Meyer.
He worked on a farm near Cottonwood Falls, at the Sunflower Ammunition Depot in Sunflower and later for Essex Wire in Topeka, retiring in 1974.
He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
Gerald married Betty Archer on January 6, 1945 in Newton. She died September 30, 2006. Survivors include daughter, Geraldine Meyer, Olathe; sons, Steve Meyer, Gary Meyer, both of Topeka; grandson, Cody Meyer, Topeka; and brother, Arnold Meyer, Topeka. He was preceded in death by four brothers and one sister.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, February 20, 2009 at Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel. Burial will be at 3:00 p.m. at the Prairie Grove Cemetery in Cottonwood Falls. Gerald will lie in state at the funeral home after 2:00 p.m. on Thursday and visitation will be from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m.
