On October 17th, 2019, George Blake Worden went home to see his Lord and his wife of 61 years. He lived a long and very happy 89 years.
George was born on Feb 15, 1930, to his parents Ross Worden Sr. and Lilian (Strumm) Worden in Wamego, Kansas. He was the fourth of five children, Minerva, Doreen, Calvin and Ross Jr.
George spent his early years in Wamego, graduating from Wamego High School. George and Dorothy (Coon) were married on June 1, 1952.
He worked at several jobs before joining the Carpenters Union 1445 in 1950. George was involved in numerous building projects in and around the Topeka area before he retired in 1993. He greatly enjoyed using his talents both on these jobs as well as helping out his many friends. He was always willing to help out wherever he was needed. In his spare time, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, Royals baseball, Chiefs football and K-State sports. His greatest enjoyment was his family. George always seemed to find time to be greatly involved in whatever they were doing.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ross and Lillian, wife Dorothy, brothers Calvin and Ross Jr. and sisters Doreen and Minerva.
George is survived by his son, Richard and wife Pat of Topeka, daughter, Barbara and her husband Alan of Burlingame, six grandchildren: Jeremy, Shawn, Heather, Scott, Mark, and Timothy as well as eleven great-grandchildren.
A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, October 22, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. in the Wamego Cemetery.
