George W. Fay

George W. Fay, 86, of Topeka, passed away on Tuesday, February 24, 2009 at a McCrite Plaza in Topeka. He was born on February 8, 1923 in Topeka, the son of Carl W. and Jeanette Billups Fay. He graduated from Highland Park High School. He was an Army Air Corps veteran of WWII, serving in the European Theater in England and France as a glider mechanic. George was employed by the State of Kansas at the State Printing Plant where he worked as a Bookbinder before retiring. George married Helen L. Short on October of 1948 in Topeka. She preceded him in death in 1997. He was also preceded in death by one daughter, Jennifer Sue Fay in April of 1957, one sister, Olive Bell and one brother, Robert Fay. Survivors include one son, George William "Bill" (Patricia) Fay of Virginia Beach, VA, one daughter, Peggy E. (James) Little of Auburn, one step-daughter, Linda Cercone of Topeka, eight grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and his siblings, Carl Edward Fay, Doris Collins, Paul Fay, Mary Clark and John Fay. Memorial services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Friday at Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel. Inurnment will follow in Valley View Cemetery in St. Mary's, KS. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to the American Diabetes Association, 837 S. Hillside, Wichita, KS 67211 or Midland Hospice Care, 200 SW Frazier Circle, Topeka, KS 66606.
