7. Background: At the age of 10, the family moved to Topeka. Mr. Batz attended Topeka schools and graduated with a PH. B
degree from Washburn University. He served in the U.S. Air Force during WWII as a chief warrant officer. He was a member of several
state and national accounting organizations, president of the Kansas Society of Public Accountants, the Kiwanis Club of Topeka,
American Legion Capitol Post No. 1 of the American Legion, the Forty and Eight, Shawnee Country Club and the Elks. Mr. Batz began
his career in 1936 as a public accountant with the firm of Brelsford & Gifford which has a history going back to 1913. Although there
have been several changes in name and ownership, he has remained with the firm throughout his carreer. In 1940, the firm was named
Brelsford, Gifford & Jones and in the early 1940's changed its name to Brelsford, Gifford & Hardesty. Mr. Batz became a partner on
July 1, 1950. The firm changed its name in September 1955 to Brelsford, Gifford, Hardesty & Batz. In 1969, the firm was Hardesty,
Batz & Clinkenbeard. In 1977, the firm merged with a national firm. Mr. Batz retired on March 31, 1981 but remained active with the
present firm of Berberich, Trahan & Co., PA. in a semi-retired capicity.
8. Relatives: Married to: Leola "Sis" Waetzig in 1940. She preceded him in death on July 4, 1993.

9. Service time, day, date, place: Cremation took place. Memorial Service at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday at Penwell-Gabel
Mid-Town Chapel. Private inurnment will take place in Mount Hope Cemetery.

memory of his wife Leola "Sis" Batz, 3500 S.W. 10th Ave., Topeka, Ks. 66604.
