George V. Staples, 82, of Topeka, passed away July 15, 2015. He was born November 13, 1932, in Sweet Springs, Missouri, the son of Martin Vernon and Nettie Mary Stanley Staples.
George attended Topeka schools and graduated from Topeka High in 1952. He served in the United States Navy from 1952-1956. George owned and operated Quality Products in Topeka for many years and attended First Southern Baptist Church.
George married Ruby Fortner and they had two sons, Kelly James and Kent Vernon Staples. George and Ruby divorced and George later married Twila Dawn Hodson. They were married for 30 years before her passing.
George is survived by his two sons, Kelly of Okeechobee, Florida and Kent of Gulf Port, Mississippi; sister, Marietta (Jim) McKee; two great-nephews, James and Chris McKee; and great-niece, Heather McKee.
Graveside services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, July 17, 2015, in Mount Hope Cemetery, 4700 SW 17th Street, Topeka, Kansas 66604.
