George A. Harrison: Born July 4, 1923, in Newton, KS, the son of John W. Harrison and Goldie M. Hagerty Harrison. George graduated from Melvern High School and from Kansas State University with a degree in Industrial Engineering. He served with honor in the Navy during World War II on the USS Biloxi, where he was awarded multiple medals for his service. He worked at Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company (Topeka) for 34 years until retirement in 1985. He was married to Marjorie Harrison on September 24, 1950, at Saint John's Lutheran Church in Alma, and they were married for 61 years.
He was preceded in death by one sister, Jane H. Patterson of Melvern.
He is survived by his children, Rick A Harrison (Mary) of Denver, David J. Harrison (Mellody) of Topeka and D'Wayn H. Stone (David) of Denver and her grandchildren, Emilee Schuchman (Jesse), Haley Harrison-Lee (Deron), Devin Stone, Gabriella Harrison, Alexandra Stone, Ryan Harrison and Megan Harrison; and his great-granddaughter, Brooklyn Schuchman.
He was a faithful member of St. John's Lutheran for more than 40 years. He served the church as Usher, Trustee and Elder.
His service will be held at Saint John's Lutheran Church in Topeka at 10:30 am on Wednesday, January 11th. His internment will follow at 12:30 pm on Wednesday, at the Alma Lutheran Cemetery with a reception to follow at Saint John's Lutheran Church in Alma.
