George Edward Dixon, 88, of Topeka, passed away Thursday, May 21, 2009.
He was born September 12, 1920 near McCune, KS, the son of Reverend Lloyd Edward and Nina (Connor) Dixon. He was a graduate of The University of Kansas and earned a Master's Degree in Social Work From Washington University in St. Louis. He served as a Staff Sergeant in United States Army during WW II. He was employed by the State of Kansas and later for the University of Colorado Medical Center, retiring in 1983.
He was a member of the Democratic Party.
George married Catharine Kroh on Pearl Harbor Day, December 7, 1941in Kansas City, Kansas. She preceded him in death on December 29, 2006. Survivors include his daughter, Judith Wood and her husband, James, of Ben Avon, PA; his grandchildren, Bradley White, Kirsten Poole, Leslie Whitecrow; and his great-grandchildren, Ashley and Elizabeth Poole and Tess and Forrest O'Reilly.
Mr. Dixon was cremated. Memorial services will be 2 p.m., Saturday, June 27th, at Fink Living Room in Brewster Health Center, 1001 SW 29th, Topeka, with military honors conducted by Ft.
