George L. Doak, 84, Topeka, died Tuesday, May 11, 2004 at a Topeka hospital. He was born July 15, 1919 in Codell in Rooks County, the son of Watt and Ora Doak. Mr. Doak served as president of the Kansas Development Credit Corporation and guided its good works in creating business and opportunity across Kansas for over 30 years. During his tenure with the Kansas Development Credit Corporation, he also served as president of the National Association of Business Development Corporation and was an active member of the Wichita District Small Business Administration Advisory Council, Kansas Chamber of Commerce Executives, the Kansas Business News Advisory Council and the Kansas Cavalry. He married Virginia Brand on October 26, 1940 in Topeka. She survives. Other survivors include a daughter, Diana J. Doak, Topeka; a son, Richard and his wife JoAnn Doak, Cedar Park, Texas and two granddaughters, Melinda and her husband Mike Sanders, Topeka and Angela Doak, Cedar Park, Texas and a great-grandson, Broc Sanders, Topeka. He was preceded in death by his parents Watt and Ora and his brother Wilbur Doak. Mr. Doak will lie in state after 3:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 13, 2004 at Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel. Services will be on Friday, May 14, 2004 at 1:00 p.m. at Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel. Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery.
