George B. Burenheide

George B. Burenheide, 78, Topeka, passed away June 19, 2013. He was born June 22, 1934, in Olpe, Kansas, the son of Anthony J. and Agnes M. Hellmer Burenheide. On April 1, 1963, in Topeka, he married Jo Sue Hudson, of Girard, Kansas. She survives. George was a member of First Christian Church, Teamster Local 696, Boy Scouts of America Troop 172, and NARFE.

Other survivors include son, Jeffrey (Jennifer) Burenheide; daughter, Stacy (Curtis) Annis; grandchildren, Jaclyn Annis, Matthew Thornton, and Meghan Burenheide; brothers, Harold and Clarence Burenheide of Emporia; and sister, Theresa Cozad of Osage City. He was preceded in death by his parents; and sisters, Helen Hogan, Jeanette Soldani, and Martha Jane Mitsven.

Funeral service will be at 10:00 a.m. Monday, June 24, 2013, at Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel, 1321 SW 10th Avenue, Topeka, Kansas 66604. Burial will follow in Penwell-Gabel Cemetery, 3616 SW 6th Avenue, Topeka, Kansas 66606. Mr. Burenheide will lie in state after 1:00 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home, where the family will receive friends from 4:00-6:00 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to First Christian Church, Alzheimer's Association, Grace Hospice, or Boy Scouts of America.
