Genevieve S. Mccabe

Genevieve S. McCabe, 92, of Topeka, passed away on Tuesday, December 20, 2005 at a Topeka retirement center. She was born on November 25, 1913 in Paola, the daughter of Elijah W. and Alberta Sheldon Spencer. She received a Bachelor of Arts Degree from the University of Kansas. Mrs. McCabe had resided in Topeka since 1947. She was a teacher and librarian for Topeka Public School District No. 501 for twenty-seven years before retiring in 1975. She was a member of Susanna Wesley United Methodist Church, area retired teachers association, P.E.O Sisterhood and the Alpha Chi Omega Sorority. Genevieve married Raymond McCabe on August 12, 1934 in Olathe. He preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by one son, Michael S. McCabe and one daughter, Kathleen McCabe. Survivors include one son, John J. McCabe of Olathe, four granddaughters, two grandsons and three great-grandchildren. Cremation has taken place. A lunch for family and friends will be served at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday in the parlor at Manchester Lodge at Aldersgate Village. A memorial service will follow at 1:00 p.m. in Wesley Hall at Aldersgate Village. Private inurnment will take place at a later date.
