Genevieve H. Manley, 97, passed away on January 27, 2015, at Aldersgate Village in Topeka, Kansas. She was born on March 6, 1917, in Portland, Oregon. She was the daughter of Mela Dale Hill Bullock and William Henry (Harry) Bullock. Her parents moved to Topeka when she was three months old. Following the death of her mother in 1918, she lived with her paternal grandparents, Henry and Lucy Bullock on a truck garden farm on Lower Silver Lake Road, Topeka, Kansas. She attended West Indianola Grade School and graduated from Seaman Rural High School.
She was married to Dr. David O. Manley on June 15, 1941. He passed away in 2004. She was the mother of five children, three sons and two daughters: David E. Manley and his wife Mary, Topeka; Dr. John H. Manley and his wife Xandra, Bartlesville, OK; Betty Jo Stiles and her husband Bob, Meriden, KS; James (Jim) I. Manley and his wife Nancy, Minneapolis, MN; Carol Leigh Kaufman and her husband Dean, Topeka. She has 13 grandchildren and 24 great grandchildren.
She has one surviving sister, Geraldine Blazin, Walnut Creek, CA and three deceased sisters, Doris Tatum, Bernice Webster and Ruth Darr.
She was a member of Crestview United Methodist Church. A member and past President of the Crestview United Methodist Women. She also was a member of the Auxiliary of the Kansas Veterinary Medical Association and Rice Senior Citizens Club #2. She did volunteer work at nursing homes.
Memorial services will be held at 1:00 P.M. Thursday February 12, 2015 at Crestview United Methodist Church, 2245 SW Eveningside Dr. Topeka, KS.
Immediately following the service, the family would like to invite those attending to a reception with refreshments in Fellowship Hall at the church.
Private family interment will be later at Penwell-Gabel Cemetery & Mausoleum, Topeka.
