Geneva Henry

Geneva B. Henry, 81, of Topeka, passed away Sunday, December 19, 2004 at Midland Hospice House.

She was born April 30, 1923 at Hutchinson, the daughter of Glenn D. and Lorena G. Brown.

She attended public schools in the Hutchinson area as well as Hutchinson Jr. College, Kansas State Teachers College in Emporia and the University of Kansas, graduating in 1945. She worked for the Hutchinson Board of Education for 12 years. She then moved to Topeka and went to work for the Topeka Board of Education until 1966. She worked at Washburn University as Associate Registrar, retiring in 1981. She was an active member of First United Methodist Church where she sang for many years in the sanctuary choir. She was a member of the Breakfast Club sunday school class. She and her husband were frequent volunteers for clerical work in the church office. She was also a member of the Washburn University Retired Employee's Club, and the BNSF Retired Employee's Club. She was a charter member and past director of the Santa Fe SIngers, a member of the Order of the Eastern Star , chapter # 464, and a member of the YWCA

She married Albert E. Henry Jr. on August 5, 1961 in Topeka. He survives.

Other survivors include a stepson, Albert E. Henry III and his wife Joanne of Colorado City, CO., a nephew, Jefferson Melland Brown and his wife Kathleen of Pinedale, WY, three nieces; Regan Marie Brown of Austin, TX, Rebecca Lee Pyle and her husband George and two sons Graham and MacGeorge of Salt Lake City, UT; Cordelia Brink Brown and husband Robert and her son Max Howig and stepdaughter Carolyn Brown of Lawrence, KS.

Mrs. Henry will lie in state after 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, December 22 at Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel where the family will greet friends from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. that evening.

A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday December 23 at Klasse Chapel of First United Methodist Church with burial to follow at Westlawn Memorial Gardens.
