E.E. (Gene) Beason, 68, Topeka, died Monday, Dec. 22, 2003 at his home.
The Air Force brought Mr. Beason to Topeka in 1955, where he married Patricia Erwin. She survives. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Betsy Sue. Other survivors include 4 daughters, Margaret Ogle, Linda Shinn, Brenda Marsh and husband, John, and Patricia Barnes and husband, George Andrew; 11 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; 3 brothers; 2 sisters, and all the neighborhood children who thought he was grandpa.
Mr. Beason served as a business leader in the Topeka Community until he retired. He owned and operated Mobil and Sinclair service stations before joining the Dillions management team and purchasing Continental Professional Laundry Services.
During his retirement, he volunteered and worked part time for Atria Hearthstone, Let's Help, and Stormont-Vail Cardiac Comeback Squad.
Mr. Beason was a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church, where he was an ordained Elder, Deacon, and active youth group sponsor.
Funeral services will be 11:00 am Saturday at Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel. Interment will be in Mt. Hope Cemetery.
