Gayle W. Yancey, 82, of Topeka, passed away on Friday, November 24, 2017 at Aldersgate Village in Topeka. She was born November 1, 1935 in Lone Wolf, Oklahoma, the daughter of Clarence W. and BertaLee K. (Marks) Winston.
Gayle graduated from Rocky Boy High School in Box Elder, Montana. She attended the University of Kansas and earned a Master's Degree in Special Education from Kansas State University. She was a Special Education Teacher for the Jefferson West School District and the Seaman School District. She was a member of the Highland Park United Methodist Church where she served as the Director of Children's Ministries.
Gayle married Glenwood G. Yancey, Jr. on September 1, 1956 in Lawrence, Kansas. He survives. Other survivors include their children, Glenwood G. Yancey, III of Topeka, Michael W. (Cindy) Yancey of Spring Hill, Kansas, Patrick K. (Tamra) Yancey of Topeka, six grandchildren, Kevin (Hanna), Sean (Kelli), Benjamin (Misty), Rachel (Tyler), Kaci, Kelli (Ben) and four great-grandchildren, Karli, Davian, Ada and Ember.
Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, November 28, 2017 at the Highland Park United Methodist Church where the family will receive friends one hour prior to service time. Burial will follow in Penwell-Gabel Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to the Highland Park United Methodist Church, 2914 SE Michigan Ave., Topeka, Kansas 66605.
