Gary Phillip Weinkauf, 77, Topeka, passed away Monday, July 28, 2014. He was born June 14, 1937 in Topeka to John and Marie (Kerle) Weinkauf. As an infant he was baptized and became a child of God and later received the life-giving body and blood of His Savior throughout his life.
Gary was a lifetime member of St. John's Lutheran Church. He graduated from Topeka Lutheran, Topeka High and Washburn University with a master's in education. He taught at Lutheran Schools in Wichita and Topeka. For 30 years he taught at Tecumseh North and officiated area high school sports for over 35 years. He worked at Ken Berry for 14 years and was a director of Topeka Parochial League for 26 years.
Gary was preceded in death by his parents, siblings, Adelaide Greer, LaVerna Lane, John, Jr. and Anna Hill.
In 1961, Gary married Irene Ahlers, she survives. Other survivors include their children, Joe (Celeste), Robert (Jodi) and Amy (Darin); six grandchildren; one great-grandchild and brother, Robert (Alice).
Funeral services will be 10:30 am Wednesday, August 6 at St. John's Lutheran Church. Burial will follow at Penwell-Gabel Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6 until 8 pm Tuesday at Penwell-Gabel Mid-Town Chapel. Memorial contributions may be made to St. John's Lutheran Church, 901 SW Fillmore, Topeka, KS 66606.
