Gary Mckee

Gary Kent (Ken) McKee, 66, Topeka, passed away at his home Thursday, Nov. 4, 2004, he died of complications from a stroke he suffered three years ago. Ken was born Aug. 23, 1938 in Havensville, KS the son of Curtis and Camille Davis McKee. He graduated from Highland Park High School and served honorably in the U.S. Navy including time on the carrier USS Kearsarge. He retired from U.P.S. after 28 years of service and he was an active member of Teamsters Local #696. He attended Topeka Bible Church. Ken married Marian Raatz June 28, 1958 in Oakland, CA. She survives. Other survivors include, three daughters, Colleen Zimmerman and husband, John Sprague of Lawrence; Cathy Martindale of Dallas, TX; Christine Chavez and husband Richard of Topeka; mother, Camille McKee, Topeka; brother, Marvin McKee, Bangor, ME; six grandchildren, one step-granddaughter, two step-great-grandchildren and one great-grandson expected in February. And, his special four legged friend Sugar will miss her porch buddy. Ken is preceded in death by his father Curtis McKee. Cremation is planned. A memorial service will be at 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, Nov. 9, 2004 at Topeka Bible Church. Private inurnment will take place at a later date in Havensville Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family wishes that contributions may be sent to the Topeka Bible Church Building Fund 1101 SW Mulvane St. Topeka, KS 66604. Ken was a great guy and was loved by everyone who knew him. He will be really, really missed.
