Gary Law, 82, of Topeka, Kansas, passed away peacefully on December 5, 2024, at Stormont Vail Hospital, surrounded by his loving family.
Gary was born on November 20, 1942, in Holton, Kansas, the son of Doris Law-Urish and Lester Law. He grew up on a farm near Whiting, Kansas, where he developed a love for sports, particularly baseball and basketball. After graduating from high school and Washburn University, Gary began a long career with the Santa Fe Railroad.
On April 7, 1972, Gary married Beverly Spiker-Law, and they made their home in Topeka. Together, they shared 52 years of marriage, raising two children, Brendy and Erick. Gary was a devoted father and grandfather, always actively involved in his children's and grandchildren's lives. He enjoyed coaching his children's youth sports teams, sharing his passion for athletics and helping to shape their love for the game.
Gary’s love for sports extended far beyond coaching. He was an avid fan of Kansas State University football and basketball, and his unwavering loyalty to his teams was a constant throughout his life. He was also a lifelong St. Louis Cardinals baseball fan- a love he passed on to his son, Erick, and the two shared many great memories of watching and discussing the game.
Outside of sports, Gary had many hobbies. He loved gardening, fishing, and playing golf, finding peace and joy in each of these pursuits. He will be remembered for his dedication to his family, his enthusiasm for life, and his generous spirit.
Gary is survived by his wife; Beverly, son; Erick (Diane) Law, daughter; Brendy (Patrick) Davie, grandchildren; Nicolas Davie, Hannah Davie, Emmett Law, and Isaac Law, brothers; Larry (Lois) Law and Glen (Tami) Law.
