Gary Bracken, 62, Topeka, passed away on Saturday, June 2, 2012.
Gary was born March 6, 1950 in Topeka, the son of Alfred and Dorothy (Thornton) Bracken. He attended Topeka High School.
He worked for Douglas Construction Company, Gene Hahn Masonry, and USD-501 School District as a heavy equipment operator, retiring in 2011.
He was a member of the Ford Club, enjoyed restoring old cars, camping, dancing and splittin wood.
Gary married Jerri Lang in 1973. They divorced in 1997. Survivors include daughters, Keri Bracken, Blue Springs, MO, Apryl Bracken, Euless, TX, Lyndsay Puff, Fisher, IN, Kristine Epling, Topeka; companion, Connie Asselin, Topeka; brothers, Alfred "David" Bracken, Morgan H. Bracken, Sr, both of Topeka; sister, Christine Minyard, Cedar Park, TX; mother, Dorothy Bracken, Topeka; 8 grandsons; and 2 granddaughters. He was preceded in death by his father.
Funeral services will be held at 9:00a.m. on Wednesday, June 6, 2012 at Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel. Burial will follow at Penwell-Gabel Cemetery. Gary will lie in state at the funeral home after 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday and visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.
