Gary L. Bomholt, 79, Topeka, passed away Wednesday, March 2, 2016.
He was born April 29, 1936, in Syracuse, Kansas, the son of Albert C. and Ellen (Latta) Bomholt.
He attended school at Norwich, Milton and Conway Springs, graduating from Conway Springs in 1954. Gary entered the Army in 1955, serving three years, with one year in Korea.
He was in the petroleum business for 36 years, retiring in 1994. Gary was a member of First Christian Church of Conway Springs and Mistletoe Lodge No. 269, also at Conway Springs. He also held memberships with the Scottish Rite, Arab Temple and American Legion Capitol Post No. 1, all in Topeka.
On December 22, 1957, he married Elna Jones at Conway Springs. She preceded him in death on September 28, 2005. He was also preceded in death by his parents and sisters, JoAnn Correll and Margaret Soltis.
Survivors include: a daughter, Terri House, two grandsons, Shaun (Leah) Theobald and Josh Theobald and one great-granddaughter, Riven Theobald.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m., Saturday, March 5, 2016 at Penwell-Gabel Mid-Town Chapel. In honor of Gary and his love for the Kansas State Wildcats, we ask everyone to wear purple in celebration of his life. Private burial will be at Mount Hope Cemetery & Funeral Chapel. Gary will lie in state from 12 noon until 5 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home.
