Gary D. West

Gary D. West, 66, Topeka, died Thursday, Dec. 14, 2006 at St. Francis Health Center.

He was born Nov. 5, 1940 in Columbus, KS, the son of Jim and Geraldine Hale West. He graduated from Columbus High School in 1958.

Gary lived in Haysville, KS from 1966 until moving to Topeka in 1983. He worked for over 30 years for Georgia Pacific and was a facility manager before taking a medical retirement in 1999.

He married Christel Kurzweil on April 21, 1958 in Miami, OK. She survives.

Other survivors include his children, Gary Dean West and wife, Christie of Hoyt, Cindy Hernandez and husband, Richard of Topeka, Marcus D. West and wife, Jamie of Kansas City, MO; his mother, Geraldine Wilson of Branson, MO; a sister, Debbie Tracy of Branson, MO; two brothers, Jim West and wife, Carol of Sacramento, CA, Larry Redmon and wife, Tonya of Edmond, OK; five grandchildren, Michelle Matthews, Marcus L. West, Jonathan West, William West, Michael West; four great-grandchildren; mother-in-law, Angelika Mosig; in-laws, Virgil and Angelika McCormick and family, and Kathy Stuewe and family.

Gary was a loving husband and outstanding father and will be missed deeply by family and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 6:00 p.m. Tuesday at Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel. Cremation will follow.
