Gary N. Boyd, 72, of Topeka, passed away Sunday, April 9, 2006 at a local care facility.
Gary was born February 8, 1934 in Topeka, the son of Tom and Catherine Cann Boyd.
He was a 1951 graduate of Topeka High School. Gary owned and operated Boyd Auto Service for 49 years. He loved to travel and spend time with his many friends.
He married Barbara Armstrong on December 8, 1953. They recently celebrated their 52nd wedding anniversary. She preceded him in death on February 13, 2006.
Survivors include two sons; Steven and his wife Sandy and Doug, all of Topeka; one granddaughter, Heather Layton of Olathe; one grandson, Ryan Boyd of Topeka and one great grandson, Alec Boyd of Topeka.
Mr. Boyd will lie in state after 1:00 pm Tuesday April 11 at Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel where the family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8:00 pm that evening. A funeral service will be held at 1:00 pm, Wednesday, April 12 at the funeral home with burial to follow in Penwell-Gabel's Memorial Park Cemetery.
