Galena Mae Dachenhausen, 82, Topeka, passed away on Monday, January 14, 2013 at Midland Residential Care with her family by her side. She was born on November 10, 1930 in Carbondale, Kansas to John Nicol and Minnie (Smith) Nicol Yowell.
On February 14, 1947, she married Donald E. Dachenhausen, Sr. in Topeka.
Galena was a homemaker and worked with her husband in their family owned print shop. She was so loved by her family and their home was always open to family who needed a place to stay. Family was her driving force and caring for Don. She enjoyed many things in her life, especially bowling and camping.
Survivors include her husband, Don; their children, Cynthia (Bill) Milligan, Ozawkie, KS; Donald E. (Cathy) Dachenhausen, Jr., Tecumseh, KS; three siblings, John Nicol, Dorothy Sturgis, both of Topeka and Lucille Elliott, Arkansas; five grandchildren, seven great grandchildren and one great-great granddaughter. She was preceded in death by three siblings, Elizabeth Botkin, Willy Nicol and Melvin Nicol and a granddaughter, Lesli Casey.
A memorial visitation will be held at 11 am, Thursday, January 17 at the Penwell-Gabel Mid-Town Chapel. Private family burial will follow in the West Lawn Memorial Gardens.
