Galen Galbraith

Galen Galbraith, 83, of Topeka, formerly of Las Vegas, passed away on Thursday, October 12, 2006 at his residence. He was born on January 21, 1923 in Topeka, the son of Alfred and Edith Warren Galbraith. He graduated from Topeka High School. He moved to Las Vegas in 1972 and resided there until returning to Topeka in June of this year. He was employed as a Pit Boss for the Stardust Casino. He married Velora McGreevy on May 14, 1947 in Kansas City. She preceded him in death on March 11, 1997. He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Clarence and Alfred and two sisters, Zella and Nadine. Survivors include three sons, Mike and Sue Galbraith of Topeka, Marc and Kay Galbraith of Topeka, Clay Galbraith of Topeka, two daughters, Paula and Chris Kennedy of Topeka and Amy Galbraith of Las Vegas, eight grandchildren, Jason, David, Hadley, Patrick, Kala, Bobby, Zakary and Miles, one great-granddaughter, Madison, one brother, Frank Galbraith of Topeka , one sister, Darlene Young of Reno, NV and several nieces and nephews. Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will take place at 1:30 p.m. Monday at Assumption Church, 204 S.W. 8th St. Private inurnment will take place at a later date. Memorial contributions may be given to Heartland Hospice Care, 1033 S.W. Gage Blvd., Topeka, KS 66604 or Alzheimer's Association, 515 S. Kansas Ave., Topeka, KS 66603. Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
